Fond Farewells

It's taken me a while to write this post, partly because it is a bit emotional, but mostly because of the lack of internet. Sunday was my last full day on site at La Poterie, and Monday morning was my last few hours on site. The photo is my last sunset at La Poterie. I have had such an amazing experience here. I've been lucky enough to work with all aspects of the excavation, from digging, to recording, to post-ex analysis. I've made so many new friends, some I'll be seeing again in about a week (when I return to the Netherlands), others (hopefully) next year if I get to return to Grenada to continue work. I'm genuinely sad to be leaving this beautiful island. I would definitely recommend visiting, although make sure to bring factor 50 sun lotion and heavy duty insect repellent. I have been privileged to call La Poterie my home for the past month. Everyone has been so welcoming, and so keen to help me experience the wealth of vibrant culture that Grenada has to offer. So a slide show showing a mix of experiences both on and off site.

While I am really going to miss Grenada, it is not yet the end of my Caribbean adventure... last night I arrived on St. Vincent (after a 4 hour delay in Barbados airport), today I am using the pXRF in the museum to analyse more ceramic objects...
